I’ve written a bit more on this thing, but then realized that I jumped the gun and didn’t necessarily understand my world. And what is Traveller if not worldbuilding (it’s actually mostly worldbuilding)? So, here’s the Silver Blade Sector (which is technically a sub-sector, but the humans are a bit occluded about their place in the universe. What else is new?).
Our heroes are actually off to the “right” in the Marov sub-sector.
Silver Blade is so named because when humans first looked into the sky this arm of the galaxy looked like a great sword. That should tell you a lot about their motivations.
Humans are aware, and trade with, other nearby sophont races: the insect-like prag and the chiropteran kopal. But Silver Blade sector is a balkanized human-dominated area of space.
